Why wait for the perfect time

Waiting for the perfect time? 3 steps to take action before you are ready!

Have you been waiting for the perfect moment to get started on something? Do you have a great idea or a project you have been putting off waiting for all your ducks to be in a row?

I hate to tell you, but those damn ducks will never be in a row!!!! Sometimes I didn’t even know where the ducks were!!!

Waiting for the perfect moment is such a waste of time as “being ready” is really, only a myth.

We try to convince ourselves that we should feel ready before we do anything, and this hold us back from taking action.

We need to be okay with the concept of taking imperfect action. Taking imperfect action is to act instead of research, to do instead of think. Take action now, figuring out the details afterwards.

If you are holding back from taking action, here are a few things you can do now:

1. Move out of the emotional into the rational:

Taking a big step to bring a change or a project to life can be overwhelming, so break down what action needs to be taken, taking one small step at a time.

2. Release and reset:

Taking imperfect action requires you to release the illusion of perfection and reset your comfort zone. What is one small easy action you can start doing right away, if you’re first action is simple, you are more likely to keep doing it.

3. Create a timeline and a backup plan:

Give yourself a timeline and a back up plan to explore your actions. Whatever it is you may be hesitant about, set a time period to try it out, know you can take alternative action, this gives you the courage and security to take the actions steps necessary.

Focus on the process not the destination.
