Spring clean your mind this February
Spring always feels like a time of renewal and awakening. People often use it as a reason to spring clean their homes but doing a clean-up of your mind and brain can really help you feel like you are starting the season on a clean slate.
If you are looking for a fresh start, why not do a little spring cleaning of the mind? Here are a few ways to start:
1. Get a good night’s sleep
Getting a good night’s sleep can certainly leave you refreshed, but getting regular sleep is actually critical to your brain’s health. Sleep has been shown to improve memory and better retention. A good night’s sleep can help you handle stress better. So if you are trying to refresh your brain, start by getting a good night’s sleep.
Exercise has a wide range of benefits, but taking physical exercise is vital to your brain’s current and future health. Exercise also reduces stress and can clear stress-based thoughts moving you into a higher vibration bringing more positivity into your life.
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that meditation is just for relaxation, however studies have shown the powerful impact that meditating can have on the mind and body. Meditation has a huge range of benefits including lowering stress, better sleep and better attention.
4. Manage your stress
Stress can wreak havoc on your mind and body. It can affect memory, supress your immune system and make it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Start to identify your source of stress and start to think about some of the things you can do to minimise or cope with pressure. You can also explore some breathing techniques and meditation exercise.
5. Letting go
Have you released last year? Do you have old stories still mulling around in your head? Have you released your experience or emotions around the pandemic? In order to start a fresh you have to release the old stuff, stories thoughts and behaviours.
