Self-care for stress in pregnancy
Pregnancy is a beautiful introspective journey. Filled with every emotion possible. It’s very easy to get caught up in everything baby, but protecting your well-being is crucial for a healthy pregnancy too!
Here are some easy ways to include self-care in this journey and the more you do that you will experience a lot less stress.
1. Nourish your body
The right choices in food can bolster your mood, provide key nutrients, and add to both of your well-being. Plan your food for you, make sure you have healthy snacks to hand, make time to get organised and prioritising your needs and being prepared to give way to a smooth journey.
2. Get moving
Having checked with your GP, plan exercise which you enjoy into your day. The feel-good benefits of physical activity are undeniable. Getting outside for 20 minutes per day, connecting with nature, breathing deeply fresh air is hugely beneficial.
3. Practice the pause
Life can be hectic. During pregnancy, it’s especially important to set boundaries and say No to anything that doesn’t serve you. Take time out anytime you need it. Take ample time to meditate, sleep or read, whatever you need to recharge your batteries. True self-care is really tuning into your body, so listen to its call. The to-do list can wait.
4. Unplug one full day per week
There is so much digital noise out there. From emails to social media, we are bombarded 24 hours per day. Unrealistic ideals or expectations can be fostered by social media which can be detrimental to our mental health and well-being. Scheduling one day per week for a digital detox, using that time to connect within, connect with your baby, do a little baby prep and relax into the solitude. By tuning out the outside world you can enjoy the beauty of tuning in to you!
Don’t underestimate the power of self-care during pregnancy, it will benefit you long after your baby has arrived.
