Life too busy for self-care?

How to make time for Self-care when life is so busy.

Self-care is so necessary for our mental and physical health; however it is the one thing that gets kicked to the curb when we get stretched for time. Although it may feel like the opposite, the times we least feel able to pay attention to self-care are the time we need it most.

If you are feeling pressed for time, here are a few things to consider:

1. Start with your own needs first.

Self-care is often portrayed as pampering yourself, what it really is, is meeting your human needs. It could be a need for quiet, relaxation, space, and food. Before you engage in any selfcare activity ask yourself “What do I need most now in this moment? This allows your self-care to be more efficient to fit into your busy routine.

2. Schedule it.

I hear it so often “I don’t have time”. One certain way to make time for self-care is to schedule it. Be realistic with your scheduling, 10 minutes here and there can be enough.

3. Prioritize.

Everything we do with our time is a choice. You can fit self-care into your schedule at any time. It maybe that you practice first thing every day, forgoing scrolling or T.V. Focus on little and often, prioritising self-care for 10-15 minutes a few times per day is far more beneficial than large chunks every now and then.

Self-care does not require a lot of money or time. Start small, prioritize, and listen to what you need.

If you are struggling with prioritising, you or your needs or you are tired being bottom of the list, fearing being judged or are there feelings of unworthiness starting to come to the surface?
