How to beat the darkness this winter
It’s that time of year, the approach of darker night and shorter days. Our moods can take a hit, the mornings are dark, the evenings are closing in and the nights feel longer.
While we may not be able to change the weather or amount of daylight during the winter, you can practice good self-care to help you feel better and beat the winter blues.
Here are a few simple tips to beat the darkness blues:
1. Accept the darkness
Get cosy, don’t expect too much of yourself, go to bed early, revel in sleeping lots, reading, staying warm and being snug. Take our queues from nature and hibernate.
2. Go outside.
I know it can be tough when you go to work in the dark and leave in the dark, regardless of that, try to get outside as much as possible during the day, as balance is key.
3. Make big plans, dreams your dreams
This is a perfect time for self-reflection, scheming and dreaming!!! Get to the bottom of what you really want, figure out how it could work, plan your action steps. Get help with your clarity during the winter while your evenings are quiet. It’s a great time to go deep and uncover what may be holding you back.
4. Make your own fun.
To get away from the cabin fever feeling, plan gatherings, a reading group, join a meditation group. If you feel like connecting but lacking the energy, committing to a group or to others is a good motivator.
5. Embrace the darkness and the magic!
Create rituals, engage in a self-care practice using Angels and meditation. Play with coloured light, go on walks connect with the fairy energy. This is a great time for prayer, magic, and memory.
